There can be few in Kincardine who are unaware of the situation in April 2025 when six homes in Dewar Avenue, along with our long-serving Community Centre, were affected by historic mining-related subsidence.
For those whose homes were impacted, this has been a particularly difficult time. For the wider village, the closure of the Community Centre has meant the loss of a place to meet, take part in activities, hold events and bring people together. More than eighteen months on, the Centre remains closed while the need for a community facility remains.
The Centre was previously run by Kincardine Community Association, whose volunteers gave their time and effort to supporting village life. Following the prolonged closure, the association stood down in September 2026 and we recognise the contribution made by those involved over the years.
Work has taken place to address the ground conditions affecting the building, including extensive grouting, with monitoring continuing. However, that work does not, on its own, resolve every question about the building’s condition or its future. There is still work to do before the community has a clear and deliverable route forward.
